Anyone here made their own fudge?

After going to Cornwall and sampling their delicious fudge I've decided to make my own for Christmas presents. There are so many different recipes online, some with condensed milk, others with cream/double cream/clotted cream, it's a culinary minefield.
Any tips from fudge lovers?

Used to be an old woman in owermoigne in dorset who put bags out on a table in front of her house to sell and the stuff was magnificent.

At the risk of mockery, I have done a few times. It's pretty easy- the things you really have to watch out for are firstly the temperature of the mix when it's boiling. Go a little over and you get tablet or toffee instead. Secondly the cooling and mixing. How you do that will affect how the sugar crystallises and whether what you get at the end is smooth or grainy.

A friend at school who was into chemistry made some fudge which contained cannabis, among other questionable concoctions including mild explosives. That was the 60's for you.
